If You Realize You Don't Have Enough Time, Don't Fret
For numerous reasons, ‘time’ could be your biggest roadblock, but that is no need to panic. There are multiple strategies that will enable a successful transition from McKesson HORIZON® to whatever new solution you select. McKesson is offering a “rolling lights out” based on last contract dates, so if you find yourself in a time crunch, the first option you should consider is reaching out to McKesson and ask for some flexibility. With or without some time concession from McKesson, you may still find the timeline ahead of you difficult.
Consider Legacy Support Early
Seriously, ‘time’ is of the essence for many of the decisions your organization will be making, as in legacy support. If you have determined that you will need additional assistance with supporting McKesson while you move forward with another solution, begin the process of selecting a vendor to provide the services you will need to continue to provide the same level of support while you transition to your new system.
