HIMSS 2015 Day OneBlair Powell Senior McKesson Analyst

Much like the advent of the opening day of Major League Baseball in the Spring, comes the opening of HIMSS 2015.  As early as yesterday at the airport gate, there was a palpable buzz among other travelers making the same pilgrimage to Chicago that I was making.  The signs at Midway Airport added to the excitement, along with the cab ride past the McCormick Conference Center en route to my hotel. HIMSS was on the verge of opening!  Just a thought, why do all the flight attendants have THREE pieces of luggage when they get on the plane???

Monday morning came early as an ambulance made a few laps around my hotel at 3am, but, to be honest, I was already awake.  Not that kid on Christmas Eve kind of excitement, but I was a little excited.  The folks at HIMSS did an excellent job of organizing and preparing the check-in process, so I was name badged and walking to my first event on the agenda.

Alex Gourlay shared an excellent discussion on the new and innovative aspects of electronic healthcare connectivity for customers using Walgreens’ new technology offerings.

The Vendor Floor bustled all morning with a flurry of activity.  Lunch in the Vendor Cafe was surprisingly good! Avoid the hot dog if you anticipate a drug screen any time in the near future due to the tasty poppyseed bun.
