Why another podcast in Healthcare?
"Health and life sciences created hardened segmentation and verticals, such as payors, pharma and providers, who don't communicate very well. Sometimes it is a very combative relationship and yet we are all just trying to help to patient.
We do everything separately. There is a separate professional group for CIOs in providers and a separate professional group for likeminded individuals in the payor side, and we don't talk to each other. Now, I'm being very general and stereotypical, but actually it is true if you think about it. There is very little natural conversation that happens peer to peer across all the verticals. Whether CIO, CDO, CTO or CEO, there is very little communication between them. So, that's why you are seeing this proliferation of companies who are serving multi-segments at the same time.
DGTL Voices is meant to capture everyone's voice. Not just payor, not just providers, but really across the continuum. We hope to communicate, collaborate, understand and come together to serve our patients best and eliminate waste that exists that in healthcare today. It is meant to be interesting and fun to learn about different leaders in those spaces and again, break down some of those silos. As well, we'll include some of the patients voices. We always get so focused on our own segments that we forget about the patient, so they will also be given a voice in this podcast."
Who is Ed Marx?
Ed serves as the Chief Digital Officer for Tech Mahindra Health and Life sciences. Marx is a leader in the healthcare industry and former CIO at some of the nation's largest health systems. Author of the 2019 best seller "Voices of Innovation" and co-author of "Healthcare Digital Transformation", publishing in May. He was Chief Information Officer at Cleveland Clinic, where his responsibilities included digital solutions as well as information technology. Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic, Edward served as the CIO for The Advisory Board, Texas Health Resources and University Hospitals.
