HIT clinical thought-leader Robert Steele selected to serve two-year term to evaluate and improve the experience of IT users in the healthcare industry.
The HCI Group is proud to announce that HCI EVP of Clinical Services, Bob Steele, has been selected by HIMSS to serve as an active member on the Health IT User Experience Committee. According to HIMSS, the purpose of the committee is to “transform health and healthcare through the best use of IT.” As a clinical thought-leader in the healthcare IT community, Bob offers valuable insight into the best use of technology to achieve the overall goal of high-quality and high-touch patient care within hospitals and health systems worldwide.
The appointment to the Health IT User Committee highlights Bob’s well-established relationship with HIMSS. With the announcement of HCI’s selection as the first official HIMSS EMRAM Global Education and Certification provider in February, Bob was one of the first people in the world to become HIMSS EMRAM Stage 7 Certified. This certification uniquely positions Bob to assist hospitals and health systems in their case development to attest for EMRAM Stage 7.
As a Clinical Leader with over thirty-six years of clinical experience and knowledge and over a decade working within the healthcare IT industry, Bob’s expertise is an integral part of the many successful projects he has lead, as well as the ongoing success of The HCI Group. The clinical perspective he brings to the table is a critical element for ensuring that the focus remains on the ‘healthcare’ side of the ‘healthcare IT’ equation.
In speaking with Bob about his selection to the committee, he considers it “an honor and a privilege to be able to take part.” With the increase in clinical adoption and sustainment, Bob is excited to “help the rubber meet the road, and transform Meaningful Use into Meaningful Care."
Bob has provided invaluable clinical leadership at some of the largest projects in the country including go-lives at the University of Maryland Medical System and the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. At New York City Health and Hospitals, Bob led the planning, gap assessment, and command center operations, in addition to providing guidance for the go-live team.
In support of HCI’s international engagements, Bob was the Executive Lead for Procurement and Clinical Transformation at University College London Hospital (UCLH). He was also instrumental in the Business Case Development at Mater Hospitals and Health Services in Brisbane, Australia.
In addition to his executive project leadership role, Bob shares his wealth of industry knowledge and experience through his regular contributions to the HCI healthcare IT blog and the numerous white papers he has authored. His input was vital to the development of the HCI Go-Live eBook, as well as the Go-Live Support blog series that is currently being published on a weekly basis.
