This conference is a unique chance to meet over 40,000 healthcare IT professionals, clinicians, and executives from across the globe. Attendees can expect to receive expert educational services from the best speakers the industry has to offer, and the powerful networking possibilities make this annual event a necessity for anyone in the healthcare IT field. ## What to Expect? The 5 day event will include forums and events on various different subjects within the healthcare IT field, such as: - CIO Forum – Helping CIOs become successful leaders, with an emphasis on change management. - Cybersecurity Forum – Exploring lessons learned, current challenges, and the road ahead in the cybersecurity journey. - Various exhibits, showcases, receptions, and educational floor sessions. In addition to these events, there are several many high-profile keynote speakers scheduled to present at the conference this year, including: - Former US Speaker of the House of Representatives, John Boehner - Ginni M. Rometty, the Chairman, President, and CEO of IBM - Kevin O’Leary and Robert Herjavec, stars of ABCs hit show “Shark Tank” The conference will also boast over 1,200 leading health IT vendors, an Interoperability Showcase, and several different pavilions and learning centers. ## Tips for First-Time Attendees For those who have yet to attend a HIMSS conference, it will be important to know what you should hope to get out of your time at one. Make sure you have an idea of what you want to learn from the conference, as well as a knowledge of the exhibition map. These will help you cut down on wasted time, and allow you to take in everything you hope to experience during your time at the conference. Also, make sure to utilize social media in order to stay current on what is going on with specific events, and don’t be afraid to ask staff any questions you may have with regards to any of the events that may be taking place. Most importantly, however, make sure to have fun!
