U.S. leader in healthcare information technology completes second major acquisition within the past month.
Jacksonville, Florida – 29th January, 2016 – The HCI Group, an industry-leading healthcare IT services consultancy, today announced the acquisition of Houston-based Expert Technical Advisors (ETA), bolstering its training expertise and advisory services.
“When HCI Group and ETA had the opportunity to collaborate on a number of projects, including a significant Department of Defense contract, the range of synergies was impossible to ignore,” said Ricky Caplin, CEO, HCI Group. “ETA’s expertise, particularly with EHR training methods and processes, dovetails perfectly with the HCI Group’s existing services around the world. Our clients will enjoy the benefit of working with a preeminent global healthcare training firm that has the capability to help them attain the highest return on investment while improving patient care.”
HCI Group will incorporate dozens of ETA employees into its organization, including ETA co-founders Jason Huckabay and Stephen Tokarz, both of whom will serve as vice presidents of training and activation. ETA’s client roster, which includes Sutter Health, one of the largest Epic deployments ever rolled out, will be brought under the HCI Group umbrella.
“ETA has supported EHR, EPIC Go-Lives across 27 Sutter Health hospitals for nearly six years,” noted Kristine Jarvis, IS training director, Sutter Health. “They have supplied top talent to suit our needs, and as HCI will continue to be our go-to supplier for program managers, project managers and clinical and revenue cycle trainers who can serve Sutter Health into the future.”
With the acquisition, the HCI Group becomes a total solution that encompasses Go-Live optimization, activation support, training, and advisory services, positioning the company as an attractive end-to-end option for high-profile global projects. HCI Group’s enhanced end-to-end capabilities have already yielded a contract for a complex delivery with one of the largest public health systems in New York.
“The significant health information systems training experience ETA has built over the years can now be leveraged as part of the HCI Group’s offerings on an international level,” said Huckabay. “We are already seeing this potential coming to fruition through local training projects in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.”
“The client benefits of this acquisition are undeniable, beginning with the collective ability to use our clients’ existing technologies to deliver better, more cost-effective solutions and results,” said Tokarz. “Perhaps the most beneficial aspect of them all is the blending of organizational best practices and processes, which will position the organization as a whole to help our end users achieve and exceed their desired results.”
HCI Group’s acquisition of ETA is effective immediately and will not affect the fundamental working relationships between ETA and its customers, nor HCI and its customers. The only change will be the additional services and expertise that will be available.
