ICD-10 for Health Plans: Essential Elements for Effective Testing Strategies


As of February 2015, more than half of U.S. health plans had started external testing and “a few” had completed it, according to Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange ICD-10 Survey Results. Approximately 40 percent expected to start external testing before July 1 with the rest intending to wait until the third quarter, based on the 205 health plans that responded to WEDI’s readiness survey.

Testing early and often—and internally and externally—will help you verify that you will be ready to process claims when the deadline for converting to ICD-10 arrives.
